PAX Prime 2015 Day 2 Recap
Broforce
Finally, we come to Broforce and Call of Champions, two very different games but both equally important. Broforce is a call back to the 80s in everyway: This game is “AMERICA” the video game. ’80s style action heroes get together to fight for freedom, raising flags and kicking copious amounts of ass; and every hero is turned into a bro. Indiana Brones, The Brocketeer, Broade, and the list just goes on and on. It’s coming closer and closer to launch and we got to play the demo of four player insanity. One of the devs made it very simple for new players: “You can destroy everything but the flag and the ground it stands on!” and it’s so true. But being too violent can prevent you from scaling the heights to fight the opposition to freedom. But it’s so intense and fast-paced, and if you die, your friends can save a bro and unlock more bros, not to mention bringing you back to the fight as someone else.
Call of Champions
Call of Champions is altogether different. It’s a phone MOBA, but it’s pretty unique. It takes place in 5 minute matches, without the hordes of creep and without the jungle to slow gameplay down. There are two teams of three, and each character plays differently, traditional in MOBAs. There are spheres on lanes, and if you are near it, it will move toward the enemy tower. Another enemy can get close and stop it, though. So bring one more person and get it moving, or just kill them. But the sphere mitigates damage from the tower so you can safely push. Destroying these on both lanes will break down the wall and let you access the enemy base. Towers do not regenerate and the wall doesn’t go back up. Victory is determined by Destroying the Enemy Base. If the base isn’t destroyed in five minutes, victory is determined by most towers destroyed, then most kills. It’s fast paced and great for mobile since you don’t have to constantly stay on your phone all the time, killing the battery. It’s a great quick game to get the blood pumping!
