Star Wars: Uprising

The folks developing this have been working closely with Lucasfilm to create a canon, post- Return of the Jedi product, an MMO on mobile no less. It begins in a pretty crummy sector, as most Star Wars games do, in the Anoat system. This place is home to Hoth, Bespin (Cloud City), and other places of ill repute in the Star Wars Universe. The point of the story is that after the death of the Emperor, a faction of the Empire is dedicated to keeping up the Facade that the Empire is still alive and well, and the Iron Curtain is draped across the galaxy. I really appreciate that it is not only canon, but they canonized some stuff that existed only in the EU, making it nice and official. The slow crawl of the story at the beginning really nailed it for me.

Uprising is a mobile MMO, an action RPG where four friends can get together and take on missions and explore the Star Wars universe. Players move around by tapping the screen and on enemies to begin attacking. You can roll to avoid explosions and lasers, and a variety of motions to activate types of abilities. The open class system is really cool too. You have X amount of slots for skills and you can train whatever your hearts desire to make the character you want.

Another really cool feature are the weapons. Each weapon has a star rating, which determines how far the weapon can level through rarity. If it has three stars and is gray, after it hits level 10 you can upgrade it to white, then green, then blue, etc. But it will only go up three levels if it has three stars. So it’s not just about grinding and constantly replacing gear, which is nice for an MMO. The community opens up new planets by attacking Imperial Blockades, which will widen the universe you explore by working together, which really blew my mind. Tons of stuff to do for a truly authentic Star Wars experience.
