What’s good everyone, JamesBl0nde here with the weekly recap for gaming news and announcements for the week of March 11th, 2022 and starting out the news this week…

If you played the old SUN Online, good news – SUN Classic is now available! SUN Classic recreates the original Soul of the Ultimate Nation released in 2006, but with features like faster leveling, system changes, and all around optimizations. It is absolutely a great chance to revisit the game and see how it feels today with the changes the developers have made to it.

Final Fantasy XIV has revealed brand new information about its upcoming 6.1 patch titled Newfound Adventure.  The new teaser site shows a release estimate of mid-April, and gives hint of what’s to come.  New main scenario quests await, of course, but new side content in Tataru’s Grand Endeavor and Somehow Further Hildibrand Adventures.  You’ll also be able to engage with a new Beast Tribe: the bipedal elephant-like Arkasodara!  New dungeons and trials will also be included to challenge players in all new ways, and the much expected Ishgard housing zone also unlocks for players to purchase homes within!  Most looked forward to seems to be the ability to travel between data centers, so even if your friends are somewhere completely different than your character, you can still enjoy the game with them!

Meanwhile Pearl Abyss has announced Black Desert Online’s new expansion, Eternal Winter, will launch on April 6th. The expansion will welcome players to the new zone, Mountain of Eternal Winter, which contains several new monster zones to challenge the strongest adventurers. More content is being gradually revealed at the teaser site, which is linked in the description below. A limited edition package can also be pre-ordered to get an exclusive pet, outfit box, and other in game bonuses to help explore all there is to the new content.

As the developers themselves put it, “Industry is the backbone of EVE Online,” and thus the Prospector’s Path event was launched!  From now until March 16, get to mining by yourself or with a group of friends and you can reap great rewards.  Be warned, though, NPC hostiles also want the ore you’re digging, so fend them off and finish each site as fast as possible for bonus ISK and loyalty points — the latter of which can be traded for exclusive skins and apparel.  Tackle daily challenges, earn rewards simply for logging in, and if you’re really feeling the itch for further combat, consider jumping in the Abyssal Proving Grounds which will run from March 12-14 for 48 hours of free-for-all warfare!

A good soldier pushed too far goes rogue!  Sylvester Stallone’s classic character John Rambo joins Rogue Company’s first season of year 2!  Get yourself equipped with his iconic look via cosmetic packs, and take on a slew of thematic contracts based on his actions in the movies.  Along side this momentous addition, an all new, experimental feature will be added: Project Saint.  Designed to let players to join matches already in progress to bolster a team that lost players, this feature will ensure you’ll also gain full rewards for participation.  While it will only be available for a set mode, it will gradually be rolled out for all matches once completely stable.  With all new maps in the TDM rotation, an increase in team size to six, and tons of bug fixes and balance passes, Rogue Company is definitely looking to draw First Blood. See what I did there?

In other news, Dungeon Fighter Online is celebrating its 7th anniversary with a collection of events for all players. The event started on March 8th and runs until April 19th, and lets players partake in a variety of activities to earn special currency for a limited time to spend at a rewards shop. Rewards include mythic equipment boxes, a clone avatar full set box, a Sirocco Set Pot, 7th Anniversary Cards, and much more from the collectable to the useful! There’s also a special skin box that you can purchase if you want to get into the event’s elven theme.

Rocket League Season Six has begun, and you’re in for a world of color!  Animation is the name of the game this season, and you’ll start off by checking out the brand new Nomad.  Dubbed the “Chariot of Channel Surfing” this van will definitely be noticed throughout the season.  With a Neo Tokyo comic themed arena, challenges galore, competitive rewards, and tournaments waiting to be conquered, season six of Rocket League will bring out the cartoon lover in all of us.

Ninjala has kicked off Season 9 this week, including a collaboration with the shonen anime Jujutsu Kaisen. The collab lasts until April 13th and includes a dozen special outfits, plus decorations, stickers, and emotes to collect. The new season also includes the new Ninja Gum Lab, where you can research types of Ninja Gum to further customize your weapons, plus a new Shinobi Card, social club WNA Resort, and more. Remember you can only find Ninjala on the Switch but it is free to play!

Last on our list, like usual, is the Epic Games Store free game of the week.  This week is Cities: Skylines.  If you love city planning and building something from the ground up, Cities: Skylines has you covered.  Focus on providing for a thriving metroplex, managing complex issues such as traffic, employment, traffic, water and sewage, traffic, civil services like schools, police, and fire departments, and in case I forgot to mention it, traffic. I don’t think that’s one we can solve for in the real world, much less a simulator but, who knows.

and with that said, that’s about it for all the major news and announcements for this week. Be sure to stay safe, and keep your families healthy!
