MMOHuts Weekly Recap #90 June 17 – Tera Online, SD Gundam, Shaiya Phoenix, Spirit Tales, & More

A quick look and discussion for every major announcement and update during the week! This week we discussed updates from the following games: Tera, SD Gundam Capsule Fighter, Runes of Magic, Spirit Tales, Arctic Combat, Shaiya Pheonix, Conquer Online, Blacklight Retribution, Vindictus and Divina. The biggest news this week comes from enMasse studios who recently announced a 7 day trial for their P2P MMORPG Tera. The trial lets players progress to level 23 in the game using any of the race and class combinations. It’s surprising to see a new P2P MMORPG open up a trial system so quickly after launching (Tera launched May 1, 2012). A trial system in a new MMO usually means that the subscriber base is either low or dwindling and the developers are attempting to boost new interest by allowing new players a free trial. If this fails to bring in a large amount of new players we could see Tera convert to a F2P model within a year.
