The previous CS:GO competitive season presented us plenty of interesting stories. But while it is simple to talk about winners and favorites, we would like to make an unexpected choice and reveal a few teams that made a breakthrough and became the discovery of the year.

We can define several teams who defied the status of avid outsiders and managed to take off at the big CS:GO events while some of them wrote their name in history forever.

CS:GO matches of these teams gathered massive quantity of spectators as everyone was expected a sensation. The club we are going to tell you about really succeeded in “killing it” and surprising fans.

Outsiders

This must be the main “breakthrough” team of the previous season. Despite all reshuffles and common problems, in the autumn Outsiders not only made it to the major but also managed to win the ESL Challenger at DreamHack Rotterdam 2022.

However, the finest hour occurred in Rio-De-Janeiro where dastan’s subordinates became the champions of the Intel Extreme Masters Rio Major 2022, even though no one believed in them. Apart from it, the team became the winner of the FiReLEAGUE 2022: Global Finals, cementing their status as one of the leaders of the stage. If we look at the history, Team Spirit managed to surprise with their incredible ascent during the year.

Bad News Eagles

Another team that surprised everyone with their game at majors. Perhaps everyone must have known about the team from Kosovo as the players were known for their shooting skills and occasional success at the TIER-2 level.

However, last year Bad News Eagles made history as they played at the PGL Major Antwerp 2022 and the Intel Extreme Masters Rio Major 2022 where they were fighting for a slot at the playoff.

Unluckily, the team was unable to go further but their incredible victories at major tournaments surprised the whole stage.

IHC Esports

Another outstanding story happened to the Mongolian team IHC Esports. In one single year the team managed to make it out of the Asian stage and play at the PGL Major Antwerp 2022 and the Intel Extreme Masters Rio Major 2022.

But if we were unable to spot any worthy result of IHC Esports, the team managed to leave a pleasant aftertaste thanks to the fight til the last round.

In the first half of the season, ENCE managed to play in finals of the ESL Pro League Season 15 and the Intel Extreme Masters XVII – Dallas, and also make it to the semifinal of the PGL Major Antwerp 2022.

Despite the decline of the second part of 2022, the team left a mark in history as one of the most interesting representatives of the stage that is able to fight for top places.
