MapleStory M is coming to Steam on March 18, with a demo you can play now

Nexon is bringing MapleStory M to Steam on March 18. It’s the mobile-focused version of MapleStory, built around auto-battling and AFK-style progression, now packaged for desktop play.

If you don’t want to wait, there’s already a free public demo on the Steam page. Nexon says the demo stays up until launch, and progress will carry over to the full release. According to the company, the demo is essentially the full game, meaning it’s closer to an early start than a typical limited demo.

This also isn’t MapleStory M’s first time on PC. A PC version showed up back in 2024, and it supported playing across PC and mobile as long as you linked a Nexon account.

Steam works similarly, based on Nexon’s own FAQ. Your character data and purchases are tied to your MapleStory M account, not your Steam account, and you can use the same account across Steam, mobile, and PC. The catch is you can’t be logged into multiple platforms at the same time on one account. Nexon’s wording suggests the Steam release still relies on Nexon account login and account-based progression rather than anything Steam-native. Details are in Nexon’s FAQ.
