Guild Wars 2 Makes Living World Season 2 Free, Adds Later Seasons to Expansion Bundles

ArenaNet has changed how Guild Wars 2 sells and unlocks its Living World story content, with Living World Season 2 now free for all players as part of the base game. Like Season 1, it’s available to anyone with a level 80 character, which means players can now move from the core story into Heart of Thorns without buying that season separately.

The bigger shift is that Living World Seasons 3, 4, and 5 are no longer sold as individual purchases. Instead, they’re being folded into expansion bundles. Players who already own the relevant expansions will have any missing episodes unlocked automatically.

  • Living World Seasons 3 and 4 are now included with the Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire bundle.
  • Living World Season 5, The Icebrood Saga, is now included with End of Dragons.
  • The Elder Dragon Saga bundle now includes Heart of Thorns, Path of Fire, End of Dragons, and Living World Seasons 3 through 5.
  • A new Astral Ward Saga bundle includes Secrets of the Obscure, Janthir Wilds, and Visions of Eternity.
  • The Complete Collection now includes all six expansions, plus Living World Seasons 3, 4, and 5. Seasons 1 and 2 are free for everyone.

The Guild Wars 2 Starter Pack is also getting a small bump. It now includes a Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic, five Teleport to Friend items, and two Black Lion Chest Keys. Anyone who already bought the Starter Pack should receive those items through in-game mail.

ArenaNet says players who bought Living World content after September 12, 2026, will automatically receive a gem refund equal to the value of that content. Partial refunds also apply to eligible Elder Dragon Saga Complete Collection purchases. If the refund or Starter Pack items haven’t arrived by October 15, players are being told to contact ArenaNet support.

Expansions are still available individually through the web store, in-game store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. Steam players will also get dynamic bundle pricing based on what they already own.
