WoW’s Twilight Ascension pre-expansion event is live ahead of Midnight
World of Warcraft has kicked off Twilight Ascension, a limited-time pre-expansion event meant to bridge the gap to Midnight, which launches March 2. The event runs from January 27 until launch day, and it’s open to characters level 10 and up.
Twilight Ascension takes place in the Twilight Highlands, where players can jump into an introductory questline, repeatable world quests, weekly quests, and rare enemy hunts focused on disrupting the Twilight’s Blade cult.
Alliance players start the event by talking to Magister Umbric in Stormwind, while Horde players can pick it up from Grand Magister Rommath in Orgrimmar. Finishing the initial questline awards a Twilight’s Blade Tabard for your Warband and the title “Definitely Not a Cultist.”
Most of the event’s rewards are bought with Twilight Blade Insignias, a currency earned by doing the event activities. Vendors at the Ascension Base Camp sell catch-up gear and cosmetics, including transmog sets, pets, a toy, and the Retrained Skyrazor mount.
There are also two achievements tied to the event, including one for defeating each of the summoned bosses in the Twilight Highlands. According to the official post, that achievement rewards the Light-Forged Mechsuit mount and the “Thorn of Twilight” title.
One other note: Blizzard says the Housing decor items introduced during Twilight Ascension will be sold later in Silvermoon City after the event ends and Midnight is live. Any leftover Twilight’s Blade Insignias will be converted into Resonance Crystals, while other event rewards (like the mount, pets, and toy) are expected to go away when the event ends.
