WoW September 15 Hotfixes Nerf Venomous Abyss Encounters and Fix Spark of Tides Catch-Up

Blizzard’s September 15, 2026 hotfixes for World of Warcraft: Midnight focus mostly on The Venomous Abyss raid, with several encounter nerfs across Heroic, Mythic, and Raid Finder. The update also fixes a Spark of Tides catch-up issue, so players who were behind on sparks compared with their Spark Dust should receive the missing sparks when they log in.

The Venomous Abyss changes are spread across multiple bosses, but the general direction is clear: lower damage in key spots, clean up some punishing mechanics, and make a few Mythic moments less crowded.

  • Sszorak’s Tempest now deals less damage on Heroic and Mythic, and Caustic Claws no longer leaves Caustic Residue on Heroic.
  • Twin Fangs has reduced Corrosive Spit pressure and brood adjustments on Mythic.
  • The Coiled Altar gets several damage reductions, longer Wail of Terror cast times, more predictable Spiteful Soulcoiler behavior, and fewer Fragments of Malacrass on Mythic.
  • Ula’tek has been eased up in Raid Finder, while Mythic gets shorter Putrid Membrane duration, fewer Blightscale Spawns, and fewer Serpent’s Call eggs.

Classes also got a few targeted fixes. Marksmanship Hunters should see the proper Aimed Shot animation when using guns or crossbows. Protection Paladins had an issue fixed with Consecration ticks while using the Venomous Abyss tier set, and Holy Priests should now get the correct Renewed Vigor stacks from the raid set’s 2-piece bonus.

Outside the raid, Blizzard fixed two quest-related issues: Still Behind Enemy Portals should teleport players correctly again, and Hope in the Darkest Corners should properly track Delve progress. The Coiled Isle also got a timing change, with Curse Surges now rotating every 30 minutes instead of every 45.
