WoW: Midnight details Arator questline, apex talents, and Season 1 tuning window

World of Warcraft: Midnight is almost here, with early access arriving this Thursday and the global launch set for next Tuesday. Ahead of that, Blizzard has been dropping a few last-minute previews, including a new questline starring the paladin Arator, plus a clearer look at the expansion’s new “apex talents” system.

Arator’s storyline sounds like a tour through some familiar places in Azeroth. According to the official post, players will travel with him on a relic hunt tied to the Light, with stops that include Light’s Hope Chapel, Scarlet Monastery, and Blackrock Mountain.

On the gameplay side, Blizzard is adding “apex talents,” described as the top end of each specialization’s talent trees. Each spec gets its own apex talent, and it levels up four times as you work toward level 90. Blizzard also says it’ll keep running class tuning passes through March 17, when Season 1 launches.

If you want a quick refresher on who Arator is before jumping in, Blizzard also released an animated short focused on him, “Son of Two Worlds,” via the announcement.
