WoW Forever Outlines PvP Ranks and New 15v15 Darkspear Battleground
Blizzard has shared more details on PvP in World of Warcraft: Forever, including a reworked version of the classic Honor grind and a new battleground called Battle for the Darkspear Islands. World of Warcraft: Forever launches November 4.
The updated PvP system is built around two tracks: Honor and Rank Points. Honor works as a currency earned from killing enemy players, finishing battlegrounds, and completing PvP quests. Rank Points come from battlegrounds and PvP quests, pushing players through the old-school rank ladder toward High Warlord on Horde or Grand Marshal on Alliance.
Blizzard says it has rebalanced Honor gains across battlegrounds so players aren’t funneled into Alterac Valley just because it’s the most efficient option. Ranks are also weekly capped, keeping some of the classic structure while making the climb less punishing than the original version.
Honor can be spent on two PvP gear sets: a blue-quality set and an epic set. To upgrade a blue piece into its epic version, players will need that item plus an Emboldened Seal, with seals tied to rank requirements. Rewards unlock gradually, starting with a tabard at Rank 1 and a PvP trinket at Rank 2, then moving into cloaks, necklaces, potions, a battle standard, epic armor upgrades, mounts at Rank 11, and epic weapons at Rank 14.
Some specs that were underserved in older PvP itemization are getting new or reworked gear options too. Blizzard specifically notes that Shaman will have healer, melee, and caster PvP sets.
Battle for the Darkspear Islands is a 15v15 battleground for levels 30 to 60, set off the coast of Dustwallow Marsh. The Darkspear Raiders and Theramore Expeditionary Force fight over four capture points and a central flag. Holding more points increases your team’s score rate, while bringing the flag to a base your team controls adds more points. First team to 2,000 wins.
Players can queue through capital city battlemasters or travel directly to faction bases in the world. The battleground also has reputation rewards, including trinkets, rings, cloaks, weapons, armor, consumables, and an Exalted questline that unlocks a tabard.
