City of Heroes: Homecoming Adds Onslaught PvPvE Mode and Brings Back Halloween Event
City of Heroes: Homecoming has rolled out Issue 28: Legacy, Page 4, a new update for the officially licensed City of Heroes server. The patch adds a PvPvE Arena mode called Onslaught, refreshes the Citadel Task Force, introduces new powersets, and brings back the Halloween event from October 6 through November 3.
The biggest change is Industrial Evolution, a reworked version of the Citadel Task Force for level 25 to 30 heroes. The new version centers on a Council general trying to claw back power with new war machines, while the original Citadel Task Force has been moved to Ouroboros for players who still want to run it.
Onslaught is the other headline addition. It’s a hybrid PvPvE mode on a new map, Onslaught: Junction, with two teams of three to eight players fighting as Longbow or Arachnos. Each side escorts NPC lane soldiers toward the enemy base core, and only those soldiers can damage it. Matches run 30 minutes, with rewards including experience, influence, enhancements, and recipes at three to five times the normal rate, making it another leveling option.
- A new Kallisti Wharf story arc, Prime Time Sublime, has been added.
- Light Affinity and Sonic Aura join the powerset roster.
- Tankers and Brutes now get access to Claws and Stone Armor.
- Traps, Force Field, Sonic Resonance, Empathy, and Super Strength have received balance changes.
- Several archetypes have higher damage caps, and PvP diminishing returns have been removed.
- New costume parts, brandished claws, stowed shields, Aether rewards, and supergroup base texture swapping are included.
The Halloween event is live alongside the update, with badges and zone trick-or-treating available until November 3.
