ArcheAge Chronicles Early Access Will Have a Box Price and No Cash Shop

XLGAMES says ArcheAge Chronicles will launch into early access as a paid game, and it won’t include a cash shop at the start. Executive Producer Yongjin Ham confirmed the monetization plan in a new community video, where he also outlined the team’s broader approach to the open world action MMORPG.

The current plan is for early access to require a box purchase. A cash shop is expected to arrive with the full release, but Ham said the team is looking at additional content, customization, and convenience items while avoiding pay-to-win. No early access date has been announced yet.

The video also repositions ArcheAge Chronicles around shared open world play rather than only large-scale PvP. PvP is still part of the game, but XLGAMES is also highlighting exploration, boss fights, tradeskills, and house building as major pieces of the experience.

On the combat side, ArcheAge Chronicles will launch with four base classes, each tied to three weapon choices that can significantly change how that class plays. Ham described the action combat as easy to get into, but still tactical enough to reward timing and decision-making.

More developer videos are planned, with future breakdowns set to cover combat, progression, life skills, and the open world in more detail. Before early access, players will also get a free PvP-focused demo during Steam Next Fest starting October 19.
