Dune: Awakening Sandworms Show Up in Fortnite Creator Islands

Funcom has brought a small slice of Dune: Awakening into Fortnite, with a limited-time experience now appearing in select creator islands. The crossover was made with Meta4 Interactive’s Power Up team and is tied to the survival MMO’s recent PlayStation 5 and Xbox launch.

One of the featured islands is Crazy Red vs. Blue, using island code 2898-7886-8847. Troll Bedwars is also part of the campaign, with island code 9783-9810-3294, and its lava areas have been swapped out for sand to fit the Arrakis theme.

• Players can find a secret code that unlocks a Thumper, which summons Shai-Hulud to burst from the ground, wipe out players, and destroy structures.
• The Jabal Spitdart Rifle is available as a pickup, with eliminated players dissolving into a cloud of Spice.
• An elimination quest lets players rank through three tiers of Arrakis mastery.
• Those ranks unlock wearable island items: the Atreides Scout Hood, the Atreides Scout Helmet, and Gurney Halleck’s Baliset.

The Fortnite experience will only be around for the next several days, though Funcom didn’t give a specific end date.

Dune: Awakening recently passed one million new players following its console release. The game launched first as an open-world survival MMO built around gathering resources, crafting, base building, and trying not to become sandworm lunch on Arrakis.
