World of Warcraft’s Midnight pre-patch is live with a new Demon Hunter spec, UI tools, and PvP Training Grounds
Blizzard has pushed the pre-patch for World of Warcraft’s Midnight expansion live. Alongside class combat changes and a stat and item squish, the update adds a new Demon Hunter spec, more UI options, transmog tools, and a new PvP practice mode.
The full Midnight expansion is currently set to launch on March 2, with a pre-expansion event called Twilight Ascension arriving January 27.
The biggest class addition in the pre-patch is Devourer Demon Hunter, a Void-themed option instead of the usual Fel flavor. It comes with access to the Annihilator Hero Talent Tree (shared with Vengeance Demon Hunters), plus the Scarred Hero tree. Blizzard also says Void Elf Demon Hunter is now unlockable.
Player Housing Early Access has also expanded for players who pre-ordered Midnight. The patch introduces Endeavors, described as a monthly neighborhood-wide activity where residents complete themed tasks together to unlock things like vendors, currency, and decorations. There are also new Alliance and Horde-themed building options, and houses can now level up to 9 to open additional features.
On the customization side, transmog gets an overhaul that includes building full outfits from sets. Players get two outfit slots for free, with the option to unlock up to 50 total. You can also put an outfit on your action bar to swap looks without visiting a vendor, and a new “Situations” feature can automatically change outfits based on what you’re doing.
Finally, Blizzard’s UI update adds built-in damage meters, changes to the cooldown manager, and a “Boss Warnings” feature that lists upcoming boss casts in order (and can be toggled off). There’s also a new PvP Training Grounds mode aimed at newer or more casual players, letting you fight AI opponents and learn battleground basics.
Blizzard’s full pre-patch notes are available on the official World of Warcraft site.
