World of Warcraft’s Curse of Ula’tek Update Adds The Coiled Isle, New Raid, Dungeon, and Housing Tools
Blizzard has outlined Curse of Ula’tek, the next content update for World of Warcraft: Midnight, with a new outdoor zone, raid, dungeon, Delves, Season 2 plans, and a few notable quality-of-life changes. The update is headed to the PTR, though Blizzard hasn’t listed a live date yet. The ongoing Zul’jan story continues the week of July 7.
The main addition is The Coiled Isle, a new zone off the east coast of Zul’Aman. Players will follow Zul’jarra as she tracks Zul’jan, with the island’s story digging into what was sealed away there and who was left behind. Blizzard’s full patch notes cover the wider feature list.
- The Coiled Isle adds Vaults of Atal’Utek, rotating public events, Curse Surges, rare elites, and Cursed Fishing.
- The Venomous Abyss is a new eight-boss raid arriving with Midnight Season 2, ending in a fight against Ula’tek.
- Altar of Fangs is a new three-boss dungeon, available up to Heroic at launch, then joining Mythic+ when Season 2 starts one week later.
- Three new Delves are coming: The Ring of Glory, Gnarldor Isle, and Venomfall Deeps, which is a Nemesis Delve.
- Lairs are Blizzard’s new take on world bosses, using instanced encounters with scaling difficulty up to flexible Mythic for 15 to 25 players.
Midnight Season 2 begins one week after the update launches. It brings the new Mythic+ rotation, the new raid, a new PvP season, more Prey targets, Bountiful Delves, and new Arcantina quests. The Mythic+ pool includes Altar of Fangs, Murder Row, Den of Nalorakk, The Blinding Vale, Voidscar Arena, King’s Rest, Ruby Life Pools, and Temple of Sethraliss.
PvP is getting a softer on-ramp too. After battlegrounds against bots, Blizzard is adding arenas versus bots for players who want to learn arena basics without jumping straight into live matches.
There are also UI and housing changes. The Cooldown Manager will track trinkets and potions, and the ping system will let players ping action bars, cooldowns, and unit frames. Housing players will be able to save, export, and import blueprints for interiors, exteriors, or individual rooms. Pets can also be placed in homes through a new Pet Bed decor item, and new Endeavors are planned for Amani trolls, kobolds, Ohn’ahran centaur, and tortollan.
