World of Warcraft’s Curse of Ula’tek Update Adds More Cooldown and Party Tracking Tools

World of Warcraft is getting another round of built-in UI tools with Curse of Ula’tek, including a broader Cooldown Manager that can track potions, trinkets, racial abilities, and more. Blizzard says the update goes live on August 11.

According to Blizzard’s official post, the Cooldown Manager will be able to show cooldowns and durations for more combat-relevant items and abilities, giving players fewer reasons to rely on outside add-ons for basic tracking.

The update also expands ping support. Players will be able to ping their action bar or the Cooldown Manager to share spell status with the group. Unit frames can be pinged too, so party members can flag health status, while healers will automatically share mana status. In plain terms, fewer “OOM” messages before someone pulls the next pack.

Healers are getting a smaller but useful option as well: raid frame buffs can now be configured or hidden, which should make it easier to keep the most important healing effects visible during busy fights.

These changes land during a wider push by Blizzard to move some popular add-on-style functionality into WoW’s default interface, while also limiting add-ons in areas where the studio feels they’ve started to shape encounter design too heavily. That part has been contentious with some players, but this specific update is focused on giving groups clearer information inside the base UI.
