Elder Scrolls Online Opens Update 51 PTS With Rumors, High Seas Event, and HUD Changes

The Elder Scrolls Online’s Update 51 is now on the PTS for PC and Mac players, giving testers an early look at several features planned across the rest of Season One and the start of Season Two, which is scheduled for October.

The first PTS build includes the new Rumor System, the High Seas of Tamriel event, and a handful of player experience changes. According to the first PTS patch notes, players can also try HUD customization, pin an achievement to the HUD, and test improvements to Antiquities.

The Rumor System sounds like a more hands-off way to find secrets around Tamriel. Players can toggle a rumor in the Quest Journal to get a hint about where to start, but these aren’t structured like normal quests. No objective markers, no trackers, no step-by-step guidance. There are three rumor categories, split by difficulty and complexity.

High Seas of Tamriel is the other major addition in this build. The first PTS version includes two quests, with ship-to-ship combat, undersea enemies, and event rewards tied to participation.

ZeniMax Online also laid out what’s coming to the PTS next. The Nowhere Vault challenge is planned for August 10, offering a new treasure-focused trial-style activity. Season Two’s solo dungeons are set to hit the test server a week later, on August 17.

Update 51’s full release was recently pushed to September 28 as part of ESO’s adjusted content schedule following job cuts at Xbox and ZeniMax Online Studios. More PTS changes are expected in weekly patch notes as the testing cycle continues.
