World of Warcraft: Midnight’s Echoes of the Worldcore Update Hits the PTR

Posted on by

Blizzard has put Echoes of the Worldcore, the next World of Warcraft: Midnight content update, on the Public Test Realm. The update doesn’t have a live release date yet, but the PTR build gives players a look at its new Dornogal story campaign, Talebound mode, more Lorewalking quests, and the return of Turbulent Timeways.

The main campaign, The Return to Dornogal, picks up with Xal’atath breaching the Worldcore. Players will work with Arator, Brinthe, Dagran, and Brann to figure out how to access the damaged Coreway in Dornogal and reach what’s beyond it.

  • Talebound is a new PvE action RPG mode built around stories from a mysterious Storyteller. It can be played solo or with friends, with enemies, bosses, puzzles, treasure, and relics along the way.
  • Progress in Talebound earns Bound Silver, a Warband-bound currency used for cosmetics like transmog sets, decor, and the Shadowbound Storybook mount. Players can spend it through the Talebound store from character select, the Game Menu, or by visiting Nib in Quillgrave.
  • Lorewalking is getting four new storylines for players level 10 and up, covering Jaina Proudmoore, Thrall, the Titans, and Tyr. Li Li Stormstout offers them in Stormwind and Orgrimmar.
  • Turbulent Timeways returns when Echoes of the Worldcore launches and will run for eight weeks. Keeping Mastery of the Timeways for any four weeks unlocks the Markeet of the Infinite Skyriding mount through the Master of the Turbulent Timeways VI achievement.
  • The Omnium Folio is expanding with two more Motes of Omnial Inquiry and two new runes, including Rune of Empowerment and Rune of Critical Mass.

The new Lorewalking quests can be repeated, and players can exit them at any time, though other quests won’t progress during a Lorewalking run. Starting a different Lorewalking story before finishing the current one will reset that progress.

Timewalking vendors will also add new Housing Decor during Turbulent Timeways, and Archmage Aethas Sunreaver’s Timewalking quests in Silvermoon City will temporarily reward a Heroic-level Cache of Quel’Thalas Treasures.
