World of Warcraft: Forever launches with level 60 cap, new dungeons, and a new race

World of Warcraft: Forever is live globally today, November 4, 2026, giving WoW players a new level 1 to 60 version of Azeroth built around Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor. Access is included with a regular World of Warcraft Subscription or Game Time, so players don’t need a separate purchase if they’re already subscribed.

Blizzard is pitching Forever as familiar ground with a different rulebook. It keeps the level cap at 60, adds new and expanded questing content across the original continents, and introduces nine new five-player dungeons spread from level 13 through endgame.

  • Players choose between Classic and Enhanced experience presets at the start. These change default UI, visuals, quest guidance, inventory view, transmog, and keybind settings, but they don’t lock players out of changing options later.
  • Gamepad support is available in beta. Players can move, target, cast, loot, and use menus with a controller, though Blizzard says a keyboard is still needed for chat and some tasks.
  • The Skyborne are a new playable race, with Horde-aligned Windshaper Skyborne and Alliance-aligned High Order Skyborne starting on Zephras Isle.
  • New race and class pairings include Undead Paladin, Dwarf Shaman, Gnome Priest, Human Hunter, Orc Mage, and Troll Warlock.
  • The Legacy System adds account-wide progression through challenges, Legacy Points, character perks, and cosmetic rewards. At launch, each character can spend up to 16 Legacy Points.

Classes have also been reworked around original WoW’s framework rather than copied directly from modern WoW. Blizzard gave Hunters as one example, with traps usable in combat and pets gaining more identity through gear scaling and family abilities.

Forever also changes how players pick where to play. Instead of choosing from a traditional realm list, players pick a Ruleset: Normal, PvP, Roleplay-PvP, or Roleplay. Hardcore is planned for sometime after launch. Blizzard notes that friends need to choose the same Ruleset and faction if they want to group, join guilds, run dungeons, or raid together. On PvP rulesets, players are restricted to one faction.
