Where Winds Meet Version 2.3 Opens Penglai With Mystery and Horror Content
NetEase and Everstone Studio have outlined what’s coming in Where Winds Meet Version 2.3, with Penglai set to open on October 29. The update’s new content leans into investigation, puzzle-solving, and light horror, centered around Qingzhou, the Inkbound Order, and a century-old case on Mount Tai.
The biggest addition is Mount Tai Blizzard, a new campaign built around a snowed-in inn and a closed-circle murder mystery. Players investigate a massacre said to have happened 100 years earlier, gathering letters, keepsakes, and other evidence while checking contradictions in a Case Room deduction board.
A key part of the campaign is the Gong-Note Zither, a reconstructed space that lets players revisit frozen moments from the night of the crime. You can walk through those scenes, inspect character positions, and look for missed details before returning to the present investigation. The case can also be revisited later through Reverse if players don’t uncover everything the first time.
Version 2.3 also adds Cast in Currents, a new Jianghu Legacy story focused on Zheng Sheng, a scholar of the Inkbound Order who can’t be woken from a strange sleep. The quest pulls players into a shifting dreamscape where movement changes time: stepping forward advances events, while stepping back reverses them. The developers say they’ve reduced normal quest guidance here, so progress relies more on environmental clues, sound, and spatial changes.
The third featured addition is Spirit of the Grove, a light-horror exploration set in an abandoned study hall. Players are trapped in a looping corridor and use a bronze mirror to spot hidden anomalies and work out the correct path forward. Some changes are obvious, while others appear in places players have already passed through.
All three pieces of content arrive with Penglai’s opening on October 29 as part of Version 2.3.
