Star Citizen’s Pledge Gifting Changes Go Live October 30
Cloud Imperium Games has clarified how pledge gifting will work in Star Citizen after its previously announced changes take effect on October 30. Only items that show the “Buying as a gift?” option at checkout can be sent to another account.
Under the new system, gifts are emailed directly to the recipient as a redemption code once the transaction is complete. The recipient can use the link in the email, which pre-fills the code, or enter it manually on the Redemption Page. They’ll need an RSI account with a confirmed email address, though they can create that account after receiving the gift email.
There are a few important limits. Store credit can’t be used on gift orders, gifts can’t be scheduled for later, and the gifted item no longer lands in the buyer’s hangar before being passed along. Once claimed, it goes into the recipient’s hangar.
Cloud Imperium also says badges and perks tied to a gifted pledge will go to the person who claims it. Referral credit, however, stays with the buyer who made the purchase.
If a gift isn’t claimed within 30 days, the buyer will be automatically refunded and notified by email. Existing hangar gifts and gift codes are being grandfathered in, so they’ll continue to work through the same Redemption Page as before.
