Where Winds Meet Adds Homesteads and Pets on June 25

Where Winds Meet is getting a new home-building layer next week. Everstone Studio says Version 1.8, titled “Companions Make Home,” launches June 25 UTC for the free-to-play wuxia open-world ARPG.

The update’s main addition is the Homestead system, which sends players back to Qinghe to rebuild Blissful Retreat, the village where their character grew up. Players can restore the estate, recruit villagers as workers, and set up activities like inns, porcelain kilns, wine brewing, farming, and trading. Homestead activities will also pay out a dedicated currency for the Homestead Shop, including the Summer’s Blush outfit as one of the free rewards.

A broader customization feature called Beyond Artistry is planned for July. Everstone describes it as a player-driven option for designing, displaying, and sharing customized residences.

Version 1.8 also adds interactive pets, starting with three cats named Maverick, Scar, and Pudding on launch day. A goose named Goldie follows in the second week. Pets can react to weather and world events, and players will be able to dress them up, unlock emotes, and earn companion-related cosmetics through bonding. A pet battle system is planned for a later update, though no date was given.

The update will also roll out several limited-time events across the version cycle:

  • Martial Path Domain starts June 25, with a 20-floor challenge for five-player teams at level 60 and above.
  • Tomb Raiders also starts June 25, adding a PvPvE casual mode with event points, items, and a rare purple mount.
  • Phantom Thief Goose begins July 3, letting players control “Goose Bo” and use goose-themed abilities like honking, pecking, and stealth attacks.
  • Jianghu Martial Games: Second Edition starts July 10, with three mini-games and rewards including the limited-time Dangling Carrot outfit.
