Where Winds Meet Adds Heaven’s Threshold Chapter on August 20

Where Winds Meet is getting the second part of its Hidden Mountain expansion on August 20. The new chapter, Heaven’s Threshold, moves players beyond the mountain city and up into foggy cliffsides, with fresh story quests, vertical exploration, new skills, and more mechanical enemies to deal with.

The update centers on climbing higher into the mountain and opening a new area through the Clouttop Ascent building event. Once unlocked, players will find ruined observatories, steep drops, and more of the expansion’s engineering-heavy setting.

Two combat skills are being added. Bursting Nine fires a nine-arrow volley that can slow and trap enemies, while World to Sword converts excess healing energy into flying blades. The story also continues the expansion’s thread about whether its hidden craftspeople should reveal their technology to the outside world.

The main dungeon addition is Evershift Labyrinth, an underground area filled with mechanical and wooden structures, security constructs, puzzles, and large mechanical bosses including Inkpincer Scorpion and Cloud-Seizing Serpent. Another activity, Campaign of Mirkvale, sends players into a former industrial valley now held by rogue blacksmiths, with machinery repairs and waterwheels tied into the scenario.

Several side modes are coming too. Reflection Temple is a solo survival challenge set in a haunted mountain shrine, described by Everstone Studio as a nod to China’s traditional Ghost Festival. Chasing With Kite adds racing in solo time trial and online multiplayer forms. Pangolin Peddler is a trade-route activity built around connecting remote villages for rewards.

Where Winds Meet will also be part of NetEase Games’ Gamescom lineup in Cologne, where the company plans to show the main chapter finale and let attendees try the Drunken Master martial arts style.
