Ultima Online is shutting down its forums on Feb. 27, and Broadsword is also dealing with lag, cheating, and Japan sub issues

Ultima Online is losing its official forums again. Broadsword says it’s sunsetting the uo.com forums on Friday, February 27, with community activity shifting to Discord instead.

According to the official post, anyone who needs to grab old threads or saved info should do it before the shutdown date. Broadsword’s message frames Discord as the new home for discussion going forward.

Elsewhere, the game’s latest global event, Kindleheart, launched with server performance problems. Broadsword says it’s already pushed optimizations after investigating the lag, but that same investigation also turned up accounts violating the Terms of Service.

In a separate note about the performance issues, the studio points to “unsanctioned third-party clients” as part of what was hurting server health. Broadsword doesn’t plainly spell out how many accounts were actioned, but it strongly implies enforcement happened and directs anyone with “disputes” to its dispute email. That post is here.

Finally, Broadsword has acknowledged a payment problem affecting some players in Japan. The studio says some users currently can’t subscribe, there’s no ETA on a fix, and the workaround for now is buying a game time code or subscribing through EA.com.
