Ubisoft Q1 bookings fall 9% despite lift from Invincible mobile game

Ubisoft reported €255.8 million in net bookings for its first quarter, a result the company said came in slightly above guidance but was still down 9.2% from the same period last year.

The publisher pointed to Invincible: Guarding the Globe as a bright spot for the quarter, helped by the TV show’s fourth season and a new in-game character. Ubisoft also said last year’s quarter was a tough comparison because Assassin’s Creed Shadows had recently launched at the time.

  • Revenue was €268.2 million, down 13.7% year over year.
  • Net bookings were €255.8 million, down 9.2% year over year.
  • Digital net bookings were €206.2 million, down 17.6% year over year.
  • Back catalogue net bookings were €221 million, down 15.1% year over year.

Rainbow Six Siege performed in line with Ubisoft’s expectations, with average daily active users up slightly after the launch of Siege X. The Division 2 also saw better year-over-year monetization trends after Year 8 Season 1, while The Crew Motorfest grew active users and session days following its NASCAR-themed season and its addition to PlayStation Plus.

Ubisoft said its second quarter started stronger thanks to Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, which it says sold 3.5 million copies in its first two weeks. The company also reported a Steam peak of 105,000 concurrent players, its highest ever for an Assassin’s Creed game on the platform.

The financial update lands while Ubisoft continues a wider reorganization built around new “Creative Houses.” As previously reported, the company has been reshaping its internal structure, canceling projects, and targeting cost savings as part of that plan.

That restructuring has also included studio closures and job cuts. Ubisoft closed its Winnipeg and Belgrade studios and reduced publishing roles worldwide, with 380 jobs reportedly at risk.

For the current fiscal year, Ubisoft expects net bookings to decline by a high single-digit percentage. It projects second-quarter net bookings of around €370 million.
