Ubisoft plans a five-days-a-week return to office as part of its “Creative Houses” restructure

Ubisoft says its newly announced “Creative Houses” restructuring is expected to include a move back to working in the office five days a week, with a yearly allowance for work-from-home days. The company framed it as an “intention” rather than an immediate switch, and said details will be discussed country by country.

In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, SVP of Studio Operations Marie-Sophie de Waubert said Ubisoft wants to “strengthen onsite collaboration” and believes in-person work helps with efficiency, creativity, and team dynamics. When asked whether a full-time return could accelerate staff turnover during a period of cuts, she said the goal is improving “collective efficiency” and a sense of belonging, not pushing people out.

De Waubert also stressed that the change would not happen overnight, and that Ubisoft plans to handle it through dialogue with stakeholders. CFO Frederick Duguet echoed that the company expects to discuss the shift with employees and their representatives, describing it as a way to improve “collective performance” for AAA development.

The return-to-office topic has been contentious across the industry, with some game unions publicly opposing full-time mandates. Ubisoft’s comments land as more major publishers revisit in-office requirements after years of expanded remote work.
