The Division 2’s Red Moon Unleashed Halloween event is live until November 3
The Division 2’s Halloween event, Red Moon Unleashed, runs from October 15 through November 3, sending players around Washington, D.C. to fight Moon Cultists, chase Revenant Bounties, and earn Event Keys for limited-time rewards. Anyone who logs in during the event gets the Bound Slasher Mask for free.
The city also gets a seasonal look, with fog, storms, and Blood Storms rolling through D.C. The main gameplay twist is the Lunatic modifier. Enemies can become Lunatic when combat starts, gaining extra damage and rate of fire. When killed, they explode, and the blast damage is based on the hit that finished them off.
- Moon Cultists can appear among the Hyenas, True Sons, Outcasts, Black Tusk, and Underground, with more showing up during Heavy Storms and Blood Storms.
- Event bosses include The Necromancer, Risen Hunter, and Bloody Houndsman, each with their own reward pool. The Necromancer and Risen Hunter also drop one Event Key.
- Revenant Bounties can drop from Moon Cultists. Completing one gives an Event Key, a chance at a themed arm patch, and either an Exotic Cache or that bounty’s featured Exotic weapon.
- The event vendor at the Base of Operations lets players spend Event Keys on Apparel Caches, Gear Caches, or community challenge contributions.
- Gear Caches include Lichtenberg, a new Named Classic M1A built around movement, headshots, and a charged shot at full stacks.
- There are 20 Red Moon Altars around D.C. that can be destroyed once per day for loot from the Gear Cache pool. They reset at 08:00 UTC.
Event Keys come from killing Moon Cultists, defeating specific event bosses, and finishing Revenant Bounties. Cultist kill requirements vary by difficulty, with Heroic needing fewer kills than Normal or Hard. The Daily Boost halves the requirement for the first 150 Moon Cultist kills each day, resetting at 08:00 UTC.
Apparel Caches include 43 cosmetic items across five outfits, weapon skins, and dyes. Purchased Apparel Keys cost 100 Premium Credits each, and unused purchased keys will be converted back into Premium Credits after the event. Unused Event Keys will be removed when Red Moon Unleashed ends.
There’s also a cross-platform community challenge tied to key contributions, plus a personal reward track that runs up to 200 keys. A creator collaboration with PurePrime, SOLIDFPS, and Widdz runs during the same October 15 to November 3 window, with project chains and creator-themed cosmetics to earn.
Outside the Halloween event, the Georgetown Dead Zone Classified Assignment opens on October 15. Ubisoft is also running bonus events through early November, including triple Shepherd XP, double upgrade materials during Expertise Surge, and Vanguard Overdrive combat bonuses from October 27 to November 3.
One quality-of-life change is aimed at Escalation. Starting an Escalation activity no longer consumes Escalation Tokens, though players still need the required token balance for the tier they want to play. The tokens stay in your inventory if the run fails or you disconnect.
