Soul’s Remnant Hits 5,452 Concurrent Players One Week Into Early Access

Soul’s Remnant, the free-to-play 2D platformer MMORPG from Chaomoon, launched into early access on August 13, 2026, and it’s already pulling in a solid crowd for a small indie MMO. On August 20, the game reached a peak of 5,452 concurrent players.

The game leans on cute pixel art, exploration, and social play rather than a traditional class setup. Players build characters through a classless skill system, group up for monsters, bosses, and dungeons, and poke around a large world with secrets, gathering, crafting, quests, and housing.

There’s also a guild system, player shops, party grinding, upgradeable equipment, and NPC villagers to befriend. Chaomoon is handling the game’s music as well, with a soundtrack of more than 40 original tracks.

For an early access MMORPG from a smaller developer, breaking 5,000 concurrent players in its first week is a notable start. The bigger question now is whether Soul’s Remnant can keep that crowd around as players push through the available content and wait for updates.

Having played to level 20 so far, I can safely say that I’m a fan. Anyone who enjoys MapleStory like relaxing grind will find a lot to like with Soul’s Remnant.
