RuneScape: Dragonwilds Sets December Luminance Update and 2027 Modding Plans
RuneScape: Dragonwilds is getting its next free update in December with Luminance, a story prelude to the Blood Crystal Saga planned for 2027. The update picks up after Kuldra’s defeat and shifts the focus to Ceridwen and her child, two elves being hunted by the bounty hunter Morwyn.
Luminance also adds several new systems and cosmetics tied to elven culture and music. Players will be able to use a lyre, interact with Songstones, and resonate with Fairy Rings to reach hidden destinations across Ashenfall.
- New elven facial features, including elf ears
- New weapons, armor, and vestiges found through Harmonised Crystal Fragments
- A Prifddinas-inspired building kit with green and white architecture and arched roof pieces
- The Prayer skill, built around acts like scattering ashes and burying bones, with more details coming closer to release
Looking further out, the Blood Crystal Saga will be split into two chapters. The first, Song of Rebellion, is planned for 2027 and sends players to Ailddinas, an elven city and forest region affected by the Nos Clan. It will also introduce the Hunter skill, focused on sneaking, trapping, and collecting creatures. New wildlife mentioned includes implings, kebbits, grizzly bears, and birds.
The second chapter, Crown of Night, will push players deeper into Nos Clan territory, a region stuck under a perpetual eclipse. Jagex says players will use the Light of Seren, craft legendary weapons and armor, and seek out RuneScape weapons including the Dark Bow and Ivandis Flail.
Official modding is also now on the roadmap. Dedicated creation tools plus an in-game mod browser and installer are planned for all platforms in the first half of 2027. That rollout is expected to arrive alongside Song of Rebellion, secure servers, and leaderboards.
Jagex says free updates will continue beyond the Blood Crystal Saga, with side quests, weapons, decorations, rewards, adventures, and quality-of-life changes planned as Dragonwilds keeps building out Ashenfall.
