Monsters & Memories details its Spellblade rework ahead of testing
Monsters & Memories has shared a closer look at the reworked Spellblade, one of the MMORPG’s melee DPS classes. The update is part of the team’s broader class revision pass, and according to the new deep-dive, most of the work on Spellblade is now in place.
The class still sits in that hybrid space between weapon combat and magic, but the rework seems focused on making its tools and identity clearer. The post goes over changes to core mechanics, abilities, and how the class is meant to play in a group, with an eye toward tightening up its role rather than turning it into something completely different.
Spellblade is built as a close-range damage dealer that mixes martial attacks with spellcasting. That’s not new, but this pass appears to clean up how that kit fits together. The studio framed it as a substantial update, and from the overview, it sounds like the class has been one of the main beneficiaries of the recent class design work.
Monsters & Memories is the in-development old-school MMO from Niche Worlds Cult, built around group-focused adventuring and a classic EverQuest-style structure. The team has been steadily sharing class and systems updates while continuing periodic public tests.
If you want the full breakdown of what changed for Spellblade, the details are in the developer blog. The post is mostly about mechanics and class direction, not a release date or major schedule update, so for now this is mainly a look at where one of the game’s class overhauls stands.
