LOTRO sets Rivendell premium housing launch for April 30

Standing Stone Games has pinned down a new launch date for Rivendell premium housing in The Lord of the Rings Online. According to the official post, Rivendell Steadings goes live at noon Eastern on Thursday, April 30.

The rollout starts with 15 neighborhoods open for players to explore and buy into. More layers will unlock as those fill up, and for the first week SSG says it will lower the threshold for creating new layers so demand is easier to handle.

This is premium housing, so players need an active subscription to buy a home there. Purchases use Mithril Coins or Homesteading Writs rather than gold. Prices for the new houses range from 360 to 1,110 Mithril Coins, which puts Rivendell near the top end of LOTRO housing costs.

SSG is also changing a few things with the new neighborhood. Rivendell homes have fewer houses per neighborhood and there isn’t a single “special” house everyone has to race for. In return, even the smallest homes get a higher number of decoration hooks, along with new ceiling surface and paint options.

If you’re not planning to move, this update still includes some housing-side additions elsewhere. SSG says players can expect new Rivendell-themed decorations, hook adjustments in older housing areas, fence hooks in Rohan, light hooks in Belfalas, and some oversized hooks being made usable in regular spaces.

LOTRO’s housing system has been getting steady expansion for years, with premium neighborhoods usually aimed at players who want more decoration flexibility than the older gold-based homes. Rivendell is the latest of those, and now it finally has a firm date after last week’s delay.
