Lord of the Rings Online Update 49 Adds Angmarim Sorceress and Ettenmoors PvP Changes
Lord of the Rings Online Update 49 is live, and this one is mostly aimed at Monster Play. The headline addition is the Angmarim Sorceress, a new monster character for PvP in the Ettenmoors that players can buy from the store either as a base character or bundled with upgrades.
The update also reshuffles parts of the Ettenmoors, including changes to the Delving of Frór and siege warfare. Relics have been moved into the Delving, which now has new entrances across the zone, returning Delving bosses with buffs, and more quests meant to point players through the revised setup.
- The Angmarim Sorceress is now available for Monster Play.
- Relics have moved to the Delving of Frór, with new Ettenmoors entrances.
- Delving bosses are back with buffs.
- Siege Warfare now has more ballista and battering ram options, plus more defensive siege units.
- Artifact capturing has new rules planned, but the system is disabled until the next update.
The artifact changes are worth noting even though they aren’t active yet. Standing Stone Games is planning a “drop-and-recover” setup where artifacts can be dropped manually or on death, then picked up within a two-minute window before returning to their original spot. Carrying your own artifact will be safe, while carrying the enemy’s artifact applies a debuff that becomes more dangerous every 90 seconds. Artifact carriers also won’t be affected by movement debuffs, but they won’t be able to stealth either.
Outside PvP, Update 49 includes class balance changes, quest and boss updates, new dyes to trade for, more lootbox items, and a Help panel change that opens support links in a normal third-party browser instead of the in-game browser. The full breakdown is available in the official patch notes.
