Guild Wars 2’s Visions of Eternity finale arrives September 15

Guild Wars 2: Visions of Eternity gets its final chapter on September 15 with “Code of Creation,” sending players into the depths of Castora for six new story chapters. The update focuses on the Commander’s pursuit of Vloxx and Kuda, with Leyspring Hollows serving as the new underground area for the expansion’s finale.

The release also adds a new multistage meta-event, a Convergence, a 10-player raid encounter, and a five-player fractal. So, yes, it’s one of those end-of-expansion updates where most group sizes get something to do.

  • Leyspring Hollows is the new map area, built around Castora’s leyspring depths and the remaining secrets of the seers.
  • The Depths of Cruelty meta-event runs on a three-hour cycle instead of the two-hour timing used by earlier Visions of Eternity metas.
  • The new Nexus of Eternity Convergence uses one multi-phase encounter rather than a rotating boss setup.
  • Nexus of Eternity is also being adapted as a 10-player raid encounter.
  • Solitary Throne is the new fractal, built for groups of up to five players.

ArenaNet says Leyspring Hollows will close after its meta-event is completed, similar to maps like Dragon’s End and Amnytas, but players will get up to an hour to move to a fresh map instead of being pushed out right away.

Challenge Modes for the new Convergence, raid, and Solitary Throne fractal are scheduled for September 29. The Legendary Mode version of the Nexus of Eternity raid follows on October 13.

The studio also laid out the fall schedule. Dismount Rush runs September 29 to October 6, Shadow of the Mad King returns October 13 to November 3, and November 10 brings Fractal Incursion, a skills and balance update, a new WvW map beta, and the start of the Extra Life bonus event. Wintersday is set for December 8 through January 5, while the Hall of Monuments update is still listed for December with an exact date to be announced.
