Guild Wars 2 reveals Black Lion Chest odds, including tiny rates for permanent contracts

ArenaNet has published the drop rates for Guild Wars 2’s Black Lion Chests, putting hard numbers on what players can actually expect from the lockboxes. According to the official disclosure page, some of the most chased items, like permanent service contracts (bank access, hair stylist, and similar conveniences), sit at a 0.006% chance.

The odds list also spells out what you get every time and how the rest of the loot table breaks down. A Black Lion Statuette is guaranteed with each chest, while other items have much higher (and more realistic) rates. For example, there’s a 15% chance to pull a dye kit, and a 0.06% chance at a Black Lion weapon, alongside plenty of other entries.

Separately, ArenaNet is also running a stretch of in-game store promotions. The studio says it has five weeks of sales lined up through the rest of February and into March, plus three new store bundles, detailed in its Magical March sales post.

And for players who’d rather focus on gameplay than the gem store, ArenaNet has also mentioned some boosts being handed out for pushing through Janthir Wilds. The exact details are light in the source, but it’s framed as a little extra help for folks working through that content.
