Gloria Victis public playtest starts April 20 as the MMO returns on Steam
Gloria Victis is coming back for a public playtest later this month. Publisher gamigo says the medieval open-world MMO will be playable from April 20 at 10:30 CEST through April 27, marking the first time players can jump back in since the game went offline in 2023.
The test is tied to Steam Medieval Fest, and according to the Steam page, this version of Gloria Victis is returning as a free-to-play game. Progress made during the playtest will be wiped before full launch, so this is more of a server test and early preview than a head start.
Gamigo says the playtest will include the core parts of Gloria Victis that old players will remember: skill-based, non-target melee combat, open-world faction PvP, territory control, and a player-driven economy built around gathering and crafting. The game is set in a low-fantasy medieval world and has long leaned harder into sieges and large-scale PvP than quest-heavy theme park MMO design.
Players who take part in the test will also get some launch rewards later on, including premium currency and character titles. The publisher says the playtest build won’t reflect the final version, and that feedback from this week-long test will be used to keep polishing the game.
For anyone who missed it the first time around, Gloria Victis was known for its three-faction warfare, open-world castle sieges, and a risk-reward loot system in certain high-danger areas. It also includes guild castle building and farming alongside the PvP side of the game.
Gamigo announced the test in an on the official website, but hasn’t shared a full release date for the full relaunch yet.
