Gloria Victis is coming back under Gamigo, switching to free-to-play
Gloria Victis is getting a second life. Gamigo has picked up the publishing rights and says it’s planning a relaunch of the medieval PvP MMORPG, this time as a free-to-play game.
The announcement came via a post on Steam from Gamigo and original developer Black Eye Games. The two say they’re aiming to keep the game “skill-based” and “non-pay-to-win,” while continuing to develop it based on player feedback.
One thing that’s still fuzzy: what, exactly, the relaunch build looks like and when it’s happening. The companies appear to be using the original Steam listing for the game, but they haven’t clearly spelled out whether this is a straight revival of the last live version, a reworked client, or something closer to a reset.
For anyone who missed the earlier tease, Black Eye Games said back in November that it had found a new publisher and was preparing to revive Gloria Victis after the MMO shut down in 2023. The game had been running for about a decade before going offline, with the studio citing money and player count issues at the time.
For now, Gamigo’s messaging is mostly a recap of what Gloria Victis already did well: open-world territory fighting, guild-driven PvP, and a player economy. You can also find the game’s store page live again on Steam, where it’s available to wishlist while the relaunch plans take shape.
