Monsters & Memories aims for closed beta on March 1, invites rolling out weekly
Monsters & Memories is targeting a closed beta start date of March 1, according to the latest developer memo. The studio says more than 11,000 players have opted in so far, and it plans to bring people in gradually instead of opening the floodgates on day one.
Niche Worlds Cult’s current plan is to invite 200 new testers per week, and each invite comes with a guest invite so you can pull a friend in too. If you were already in the closed alpha, you’ll automatically be included in the closed beta. The team hasn’t decided yet whether alpha testers will also get those guest invites.
The studio says the invite lottery will run for 10 weeks, which should add roughly 4,000 more players to the closed beta pool. Testing will be split across fresh-start servers, including both PvE and PvP options. On top of that, the team is planning at least two beta open playtests before Early Access, also on fresh-start servers.
As for rules, streaming and showing off closed beta gameplay is allowed. Multiboxing isn’t, and the devs say they’ll be watching for automation.
The same memo also calls out a handful of in-progress content and model updates heading into beta, including new zombie models, tweaks to human hair and bears, and new helm models for every race. The rest of the work-in-progress list is in the full update.
