Genshin Impact Version Luna VIII Adds Sandrone and a Permanent Moon Region on July 1
Genshin Impact Version Luna VIII, “Sunny Summer Fontinalia,” arrives July 1, HoYoverse announced. The update brings back Sandrone, the Seventh of the Fatui Harbingers, as a new 5-star playable character, and opens the Frost Moon as a permanent explorable area beyond Teyvat.
Sandrone will be a 5-star Cryo Claymore user. Her return follows her apparent sacrifice during the battle in Nod-Krai, and the update’s story will dig into how she’s back. She’ll debut in the first half of Version Luna VIII’s Character Event Wishes alongside a Citlali rerun. The second half brings back Columbina and Raiden Shogun.
The update also adds Stellar-Conduct, a new Cryo-Electro reaction tied to certain Cryo and Electro characters. Triggering it creates a Polestar Field that stores extra Cryo and Electro energy, then converts it into buffs for Stellar-Conduct, Cryo, and Electro damage while reducing enemy Physical RES. Sandrone’s kit is built around that field, with her autonomous construct Fagio dealing Stellar-Conduct damage and her Elemental Skill helping manage its Decoding Power.
The Frost Moon is the other major addition. Players will travel by spacecraft to a new lunar region with a lunar sea, an outer-space station, ancient ruins, and gravity-based traversal mechanics. HoYoverse says both the moon and Teyvat maps are also getting a layered display feature, which should make multi-level areas easier to read.
Version Luna VIII’s main seasonal event is the Fontinalia Film Festival aboard the Wingalet in Fontaine. The event story will become permanent, and players who complete it can invite Charlotte for free and earn a new outfit for her. Citlali is also getting a new outfit, available at a limited-time discount.
Other additions include a Natlan dance challenge, new Repertoire of Myriad Melodies pieces, more Genius Invokation TCG cards, and summer-themed updates for Miliastra Wonderland, including a new lobby, outfits, free rewards, and editor upgrades.
