Fractured: Conquest shows off the Greatsword and its Momentum-based skills
Fractured: Conquest, the faction-focused online warfare game formerly known as Fractured Online, has revealed its next weapon: the Greatsword. A new developer video breaks down how it plays, including its basic attacks and two core abilities.
The Greatsword can be equipped by any archetype as long as you pick it up, and it’s built around trading defense for damage. Unlike some other weapons, its basic attack cleaves, hitting multiple enemies in front of you rather than focusing on a single target.
As shown in the video, the weapon comes with two featured abilities. Blade Spin turns your character into a moving whirlwind and puts you into an “untouchable” state while it’s active. Sundering Smash is a forward-moving attack that deals damage and applies crowd control, including a slow and a silence, to enemies caught in your path.
Both abilities tie into a Momentum mechanic. Momentum extends Blade Spin’s duration and boosts the slow and silence effects on Sundering Smash, giving Greatsword users an incentive to keep pressure up instead of playing cautiously.
This also fits with how Fractured: Conquest is framing its buildcraft: archetypes set the baseline, while weapons and armor help define your playstyle around that. The game is currently in the middle of rolling out these systems through preview-style updates and videos.
