Final Fantasy XIV Mobile Is Shutting Down in China, Global Version Canceled

LightSpeed Studios is shutting down Final Fantasy XIV Mobile in China on September 30, 2026, just over a year after the game launched there on iOS and Android. The planned global version is also no longer moving forward.

According to the official announcement, Tencent and Square Enix have ended the licensing agreement for Final Fantasy XIV Mobile Chinese Edition following “adjustments in business operations and changes in the market environment.”

The shutdown process has already started. In-game top-ups and new user registrations were suspended on July 17, 2026 at 18:00 UTC+8. Game operations are set to end on September 30 at 11:00 UTC+8, when the servers and official website will go offline and players will no longer be able to log in. Forums and dedicated customer support will close on October 15.

The notice also says account data, character information, and other related player data for users in mainland China will be deleted after the servers shut down, except where laws, regulations, or user agreements require otherwise.

Final Fantasy XIV Mobile launched in mainland China on June 19, 2025, with a global release planned to follow at a later date. That global version has now been canceled before release.
