EverQuest Legends shows off its gear-merging Exaltation system in new beta video

Daybreak and Game Jawn have shared a new look at EverQuest Legends, this time focusing on the game’s Exaltation system while the MMO remains in a limited beta under NDA. The feature lets players take parts of one item and apply them to another, including focus effects, proc effects, and even visual ornamentation.

The demo comes from senior engineer Sean Norton, who walks through the system on a level 50 Warrior/Shaman/Wizard character. In practice, Exaltation looks like a gear-combining setup MMO and action RPG players will probably recognize: keep the item you want to wear, then pull useful properties or looks from another piece of gear and merge them together.

Even without broad beta footage out in the wild yet, the video gives a decent look at the game’s UI and item management. It also leans hard into old-school EverQuest nostalgia, with Norton running around with familiar gear including Ykeshas. One small launch-related detail also slips out in the process: the Glowing Black Sword shown in the video isn’t planned to be available at launch.

EverQuest Legends is Daybreak’s updated take on classic EverQuest-style MMO design, and interest seems high so far. Daybreak recently said tens of thousands of players signed up to test it, though only a small group has access in the current beta.

According to the trailer, Exaltation is one of the more flexible item systems the game has shown publicly so far. Since the beta is still under wraps, official videos like this are doing most of the work when it comes to showing what players can actually expect.
