CCP says EVE Vanguard has moved into alpha after its latest VIP test
CCP Games says EVE Vanguard has now moved into alpha following its latest small-scale VIP test. The update came through a recent developer roundtable, where the studio framed last year’s Operation Nemesis test as the end of pre-alpha and said the current phase is focused on tightening priority systems while still aiming for a build that feels closer to a finished release.
That said, the roundtable didn’t share many concrete build changes. According to the announcement, most of the discussion centered on how CCP is collecting and reviewing player feedback rather than laying out a detailed list of gameplay updates.
One of the clearer takeaways is that CCP wants Vanguard to feel more connected to EVE Online as a shooter, including plans for features like weapon fitting. The studio also called out feedback from longtime DUST 514 players as especially useful, which makes sense given Vanguard’s place as CCP’s latest attempt at an FPS set in the EVE universe.
The VIP test itself was described as a smaller, more targeted round meant to help the team lock down core systems. CCP also spent a fair bit of time talking about what it considers useful feedback and who on the team actually reads player responses.
So, the big news here is the phase change: EVE Vanguard is now in alpha. What’s still missing is a clearer breakdown of what actually changed in the latest build, or when players can expect the next public testing window.
