EverQuest Legends FAQ confirms April beta, subscription plans, and no PvP servers
EverQuest Legends is still on track for a July launch, and a new FAQ fills in some of the bigger questions players had after the reveal. According to the Discord FAQ, beta testing is expected to start sometime in April, with the exact date still to be announced.
The FAQ also confirms a few ground rules for the new server. EverQuest Legends will use its own subscription and won’t be included with All Access or Krono. It’ll also have a cash shop with cosmetic items and utility purchases like XP potions. There are currently no plans for PvP servers, and characters won’t transfer between original EverQuest and Legends.
- Beta is planned for April, with more details coming later.
- Kunark is already in the works, and more expansions are planned after launch.
- Players start with a race-specific class, then can pick a second and third class later, with the third unlocking at level 10.
- Primary class swapping can be done in major hub cities once classes are unlocked. Secondary and third classes can be changed more freely.
- Baseline difficulty is meant to be close to 1999 EverQuest.
- Zones will have three selectable difficulty settings, with harder versions offering more XP and better rare drops.
- The Plane of Fear and Plane of Hate are planned for both beta and launch.
- Housing will be available at launch, but guild halls won’t.
That class setup is probably the biggest mechanical detail here. Legends uses a multiclass system, but it still starts from race-specific class choices before opening up more options as you level. The FAQ doesn’t go much deeper than that yet, so there are still some obvious gaps around balance and progression.
For longtime EverQuest players, the difficulty note stands out too. The team says the baseline is roughly in line with 1999 EverQuest, but with zone-level difficulty settings layered on top. In practice, that sounds like the game is aiming for old-school pacing while giving groups a way to push for better rewards.
One other detail from the FAQ, weird as it is: snakes can still kick. Whether that was a joke or not, it made the list.
