Soulframe’s next pre-alpha update arrives in April with a new quest, siege, and wolf mount tease
Digital Extremes used its PAX East panel to put most of the spotlight on Soulframe, with a batch of details on the game’s next pre-alpha build. Preludes 14 is set to arrive in April, and it adds a new quest built around a long-lost shipwreck and a duel with a famed fencer.
Finishing that quest will unlock a new pact and a new rapier weapon. Preludes 14 also adds a siege encounter at Mirifuir Castle, a new Fallen Ode Skytower location, five side quests, and new progression for the ancestor Orlick alongside a journal UI update.
One other thing got teased, though it sounds like it’s for a later update rather than part of Preludes 14 itself: Soulframe’s first mount. Digital Extremes showed off a wolf players will eventually be able to ride, which is a pretty notable addition for a game that’s still in pre-alpha.
The panel had a little bit of Warframe news too, but not much compared to the Soulframe reveals. Digital Extremes confirmed that Voruna is the next Prime frame, launching Wednesday, April 8. The studio also said Dante and Baruuk are getting deluxe skins in the game’s summer update, while Mesa will receive a new Heirloom skin later this year.
So if you were hoping for bigger Warframe announcements, this wasn’t really that show. PAX East was mostly about where Soulframe is headed next, with Preludes 14 shaping up as the game’s next big test build in April.
