Hollowed Oath patch adds early progression, NPC races, and combat updates
Hollowed Oath just got a very early development update, and it sounds exactly like what you’d expect from a build sitting at version 0.01. The indie MMORPG’s latest patch adds some foundational pieces, including the first pass on XP and character progression, NPC races and narratives, improved targeting, new points of interest, and a round of combat and UI changes.
According to the official post, the team is still focused on getting its remaining core systems and interface elements into place. So this isn’t a big content drop as much as another step toward a usable pre-alpha build.
Hollowed Oath is the in-development MMO from the developers behind the closed EverQuest emulator project The Heroes Journey. The game was previously described as a more casual-friendly MMORPG with multiclassing, but there still isn’t any word on when players might get something more publicly playable.
For now, the main takeaway is that basic structure is starting to come together. Progression is in, targeting has been improved, and the world is getting more NPC and location setup. That’s important stuff, even if it’s still very early and not especially flashy.
If you’re curious about the setting while the game continues inching toward pre-alpha, the developers also have a separate archives site with background lore. But on the actual game side, this update mostly confirms that Hollowed Oath is still deep in the groundwork phase.
