EverQuest Legends closed beta starts April 24 ahead of July launch

EverQuest Legends is getting its closed beta on April 24. Daybreak Games and Game Jawn confirmed the date in a Discord post, with invites going out in waves rather than all at once.

The studios say testers will be picked at random as they watch server load and figure out what they need from each phase of the test. If you haven’t signed up yet, registration is still open through the official site. Anyone who gets in will be under NDA, so don’t expect a flood of public footage or streams from the beta.

The game is still on track to launch in July. EverQuest Legends is a standalone spinoff built by Daybreak and Game Jawn, the latter being a team with roots in the EQ emulator scene. It’s based on pre-Kunark EverQuest, but not as a straight recreation.

Instead, the pitch so far is an older-school EQ framework with some modern changes layered on top, including multiclassing, more room for solo play, and instanced content. That’s a pretty different setup from the original game’s early-era design, so the closed beta should give players a better sense of how far this version is leaning toward nostalgia versus overhaul.
