EverQuest II Opens Origins Beta for Its New Personas Feature
EverQuest II has opened the first beta test for Personas on its Origins servers, giving players a chance to try the new class-swapping feature before it launches with GU 132, Revelations of Malice.
Personas let you add and level additional adventure classes on an existing character instead of making a separate alt each time. Each character gets one Persona slot by default, with more slots available to buy. You also can’t use the same class twice on one character.
The beta is live now and runs through August 2 at noon PST, according to the announcement. For this test, the feature is available on Origins servers.
Darkpaw says several pieces of progress and setup are tracked per Persona rather than across the whole character. That includes class level and experience, class-specific spells and skills, equipment, appearance sets, hotbars, and AA profiles. Heroic status also applies to the individual Persona where relevant, not the base character as a whole.
There’s a lot of edge-case stuff here, especially for longtime players with established characters, so the studio has also published an in-depth FAQ covering how the system works. If you’re planning to jump into the beta, it’s probably worth a read before moving things around.
