Elder Scrolls Online Update 51 Adds Nowhere Vault, Rumors, and Three-Team Battlegrounds

The Elder Scrolls Online Update 51 is live, bringing the new Nowhere Vault activity, the Rumors system, permanent three-team Battlegrounds in the regular rotation, and a round of player experience changes. The patch is about 2.26GB.

The Nowhere Vault is the main new activity available now. Players can enter through Daggerfall’s Thieves Den after getting a Wondrous Nowhere Key, or pick up the “Invitation to Treasures” starter from the Crown Store. It can be played solo or with up to four players, with randomized rooms built around puzzles, stealth, navigation, combat, and hidden objectives.

  • Wondrous Nowhere Keys are used to open standard Vault rooms, and only one player needs to spend a key for the group to continue.
  • Existing Unformed Planar Keys have been converted into Wondrous Nowhere Keys.
  • The keys are tradeable and can be sold through Guild Stores.
  • Keys can drop from activities such as Heists, Thieves Troves, Delves, World Bosses, Treasure Chests, Favors, Dynamic Encounters, Rumors, and the upcoming Solo Dungeons.

Rumors are ESO’s new clue-based content system. They live in the Quest Journal, but unlike quests, they don’t hand players a step-by-step objective list or direct them through the UI. Instead, players follow hints, collect clues, and work out the solution themselves. The intro quest, “Rumors Abound,” is available from the Crown Store’s Quest Starters section, or by finding Tilli the Gossip at the southern docks of Daggerfall.

Update 51 also brings several quality-of-life changes. Achievement pinning lets players track an unearned achievement on the HUD, while Antiquities leveling and lead drops have been adjusted to cut down on early grind. On PC, a beta version of customizable HUD placement is now available through the system menu, with console support planned for a later update.

Combat and build changes are part of the patch too. The update continues ESO’s hybridization work, including changes to Major and Minor buffs, Alchemy traits, reagents, crafted potion naming, potion icons, and Mundus Stones. Three-team Battlegrounds are also back in the regular PvP rotation.

Not everything in the Update 51 cycle is available today. The High Seas of Tamriel in-game event and Solo Dungeons are scheduled to arrive later.
