RuneScape opens eastern Havenhythe with new quest, skilling, and Slayer targets

RuneScape’s Havenhythe Part II update is live as of September 28, opening the path east beyond Amberfell and adding a new quest, more skilling activities, fresh Slayer monsters, and extra rewards across the island.

The headline addition is Heralds of Crimson, the next quest in the Havenhythe storyline. It continues the Sanguine threat and sends players through the new eastern regions toward Shuruk-Ba. To start it, players need Secrets of Amberfell, 55 Herblore, 51 Crafting, 65 Mining, and 60 Smithing.

Much of the update is built around new ways to train existing skills while exploring Havenhythe. Heathervein introduces the Exalted Quarry, where players mine Essence Lumps, Chunks, and Slabs, then process them into Rune Essence using Mining and Crafting. Exalted Essence can also be used at supported Runecrafting altars for a lower-intensity Runecrafting method.

  • Fenmoor adds the Bogolins, petrified trees, and a totem-building activity tied to Woodcutting and Fletching.
  • Players with 77 Divination and partial Heralds of Crimson progress can gather Colossi memories for Divination XP, Remnant Energy, and some Agility XP.
  • New Slayer threats include Sanguine Bogolins, Sanguine Werewolves, and Ravenous Strigoi.
  • Sanguine Werewolves can be assigned at 72 Slayer, while Ravenous Strigoi require 104 Slayer.
  • New rewards include Crimson Ichor, three Sigil Codices, the Fen-Orb staff upgrade item, and the Nightblood Ring for Ranged crossbow users.

Jagex has also changed how Havensilver weaknesses work. Sanguine creatures no longer take reduced damage from non-Havensilver sources. Instead, Havensilver weapons now deal 50% increased damage against them. So regular gear is still usable, but the specialized equipment should hit harder where it’s meant to.

There’s more general skilling content scattered through the eastern side of Havenhythe too, including additional Woodcutting tree types, two Fishing spots, Farming patches, new seeds, and another Bloodwood Tree location.

The update also sets up RuneScape’s next major fight. The Ghrazi Blood Knights arrive on October 12 and are being billed as the game’s first duo-only boss encounter.
